Hearts of Destiny Initiatives is a community-based organization rooted in the heart of Utawala, Nairobi, Kenya. We are a passionate team driven by the vision of a world where no child is left to the streets. Founded in response to the growing crisis of vulnerable children living on the streets, we are committed to transforming their lives through compassion, support, and opportunity.

At Hearts of Destiny, we believe that every child—regardless of their background—deserves a chance to thrive. We serve street children, orphans, and at-risk youth by offering comprehensive, life-changing programs that meet their immediate needs and lay the foundation for a brighter future.

What Sets Us Apart

What makes Hearts of Destiny unique is our holistic approach to transforming the lives of street children. We don’t just provide short-term relief—we walk with every child on a journey of healing, growth, and empowerment. Our five key programs—Feeding, Education & Skill Development, Health & Hygiene, Reintegration & Family Reconnection, and Advocacy—work together to create real, lasting impact.

Unlike many organizations, we have deep roots in Utawala and tailor our programs specifically to the needs of children in this community. We don’t just serve children—we know them, respect them, and invest in their futures.

Meet the Team

Founder & Director: Cecilia Wamaitha
Cecilia is a passionate child welfare advocate with over 5 years of hands-on experience working with street children. Her journey began with simple acts of kindness—offering food and friendship to children she met on the streets. Moved by their stories and struggles, she founded Hearts of Destiny Initiatives to provide a safe, structured, and sustainable response to the crisis of street life.

With a strong background in community outreach and child counseling, Cecilia leads with both heart and expertise, inspiring a growing team of social workers, volunteers, educators, and supporters.

Our Impact

Since our founding, Hearts of Destiny Initiatives has:

1. Served over 30,000 nutritious meals to children living on the streets of Nairobi.

2. Educated and trained over 400 children through our literacy and vocational programs.

3. Provided healthcare access and hygiene support to over 500 children.

4. Reunited dozens of children with loving families or safe community homes.

5. Engaged thousands through advocacy campaigns to change perceptions and fight for children’s rights.

Every meal shared, lesson taught, and child reintegrated brings us one step closer to our dream—a Kenya where no child is left behind.
